Alleged Shooter Arrested In Deptford
In a mental health crisis or domestic squabble between family or friends, we can make decisions that are detrimental to our own lives. Unfortunately, when guns are involved, those decisions can spiral into one ending up in jail. This appears to be the case for one local man who was arrested over the weekend.
The incident
According to the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office, the Glendora man was in a stand-off at a Deptford home for several hours after a domestic disturbance report was called into police. The witnesses alleged that the Glendora man forced broke into a home and discharged a weapon Saturday night. As a result, residents of Pasadena Avenue and Hurfville Road were told to shelter in place as the SWAT team searched for the man.
The arrest
Upon arrest, GCPO alleges that the Glendora man was carrying a rifle and two handguns. They claim he failed to comply with the SWAT team’s orders and even “took steps” to fire one of his weapons prior to the arrest. Though, there were no witness accounts. He now faces multiple charges, including burglary and attempted murder.
After an arrest
For Westmont, New Jersey, residents facing a similar fate as this Glendora man, breathe and ask for an attorney immediately. The narrative that is released by prosecutors to the media immediately taints one’s case, and it is important to seize that narrative from them. There are two sides to every story, and ensuring that the accused gets their side told is the only way they can hope to have their rights protected.
