Trenton Citizen Arrested For Murdering Two-Year-Old Child

Details Come to Light After Toddler’s Murder

Back in August, the city of Trenton mourned after learning about the death of a two-year-old child. As the weeks passed, that mourning turned into horror as an autopsy revealed the horrific circumstances surrounding the child’s death. Now, a suspect has been apprehended.

Trenton Citizen Arrested for Murder of Two-Year-Old Child

On August 21st, authorities in Trenton were called out to a residence. Initial reports indicated that a young toddler had taken a hard fall down a set of stairs. When police arrived, they found the two-year-old child unresponsive. The toddler was rushed to the hospital, but she was pronounced deceased.

Investigators were immediately suspicious due to the toddler’s apparent wounds. The marks on her body, which appeared to be burns, didn’t match up to the story of her falling down the stairs. The investigator’s initial suspicions were later confirmed when an autopsy was performed.

Autopsy reports indicated that the youngster was sexually assaulted before her death. It was also apparent that the toddler had been burned by scalding hot water and hit with fists. The Examiner’s Office ruled the cause of death as homicidal violence.

Investigators now believe she was suffocated to death by the same person who assaulted her. They’ve named and arrested the person they believe to be responsible, 25-year-old Maison Torres.

The suspect was reportedly dating the toddler’s mother when the incident occurred. He’s been charged with murder and could get sentenced to life in prison if convicted.

Understanding the Severity of Murder Charges in New Jersey

Murder is one of the most severe crimes you can commit in the state of New Jersey. If you’re convicted of first-degree murder, then you’ll be spending at least 30 years in prison. Your sentence could be extended to life depending on the circumstances surrounding the crime and your victim.

If you or a loved one has been accused of murder, then you need to take the accusations very seriously. Never assume that a courtroom will believe your side of events. Instead, ensure you have the proper protection by hiring an experienced criminal defense attorney. You’ll need to find an attorney who has extensive experience defending clients against murder charges.
