Police Arrest Suspect in Knife Attack of Off-Duty Officer from Long Branch, NJ
A 32-year-old man was arrested recently after claims that he attacked an off-duty police officer with a knife, according to a recent article on NJ.com.
The man, a resident of the Bayville section of Berkeley, was charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, and violating a restraining order, according to Long Beach police.
The police officer involved in the case claimed that he was leaving a friend’s house in the early hours of a Saturday morning in October when he was attacked by a man wielding a knife. The officer suffered slash injuries to his left arm and received treatment at Monmouth Medical Center before being sent home. The officer returned to work shortly thereafter.
Police have not commented on any motive for the incident.
