Domestic Violence & Abuse in New Jersey
Domestic violence is a big problem in New Jersey. Statistics show that domestic violence and abuse continues to grow in the Garden State. Unfortunately, domestic abuse may end in murder.
Recently, a New Jersey woman’s body parts were identified after they washed up on Brooklyn and Manhattan coastlines last week. Her boyfriend, a resident of Bergenfield, NJ has been arrested. The woman was reported missing last month, but the man continued to use her credit card accounts until he was arrested.
Her remains were identified by a tattoo. According to her mother, the tattoo was a special memory of an aunt.
After the man was arrested, he was taken to a hospital because of a “medical episode.” He will appear in court after release from the hospital.
He was charged with murder, hindering apprehension, credit card fraud, stalking, and desecration of human remains.
Under N.J.S. 2C:11-3, murder in the first degree, the man faces 30 years to life in prison with or without the possibility of parole.
