Camden Man Faces Charges for Allegedly Firing Gunshots at People Outside Woodbury Gas Station
Police recently arrested a Camden New Jersey man accused of trying to kill multiple people standing outside a gas station in Woodbury, NJ.
The violent incident occurred a short time before 11:00 a.m. on Sunday morning. According to law enforcement, the suspect drove past the 76 Gas Station located on Mantua Avenue in Woodbury NJ and used a handgun to fire several gunshots. The suspect allegedly aimed his gunfire at a number of people who were standing outside the station. Moreover, the suspect was reportedly at close range when he fired the gunshots in the direction of the victims.
Thankfully, none of the victims was struck by a bullet and nobody was injured as a result of the shooting incident.
The Woodbury Police Department received a report of gunshots being fired in the area and immediately dispatched police officers to the scene. When the Woodbury cops arrived at the gas station, they spoke with the victims and other witnesses. Police officers also obtained video surveillance footage from the gas station and were reportedly able to identify the suspect on the video images. According to Camden County prosecutors, the suspect is a 19-year-old man who resides in Camden NJ. The day after the shooting, police located the suspect in Woodbury NJ and placed him under arrest.
The suspect has been charged with numerous crimes, including attempted murder, aggravated assault, and weapons offenses for illegally possessing a handgun and possessing a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
If a grand jury indicts the suspect on the most serious criminal charges, he will likely have to stand trial in Salem County Superior Court. While the suspect awaits resolution of the case, he is being held at the Salem County Correctional Facility on a $300K bail amount.
